Cable cars of various types serve the Fellhorn/Kanzelwand, Nebelhorn, Walmendingerhorn, Heuberg, Söllereck, and Ifen areas, making lofty heights and unique mountain and hiking experiences in the Allgäu easily accessible.
Even the ride up on the cable car offers a view of the Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal ski and hiking region. Once you arrive, panoramic views and alpine moments of enjoyment await you – ideally suited for families and active nature lovers of all ages and all fitness levels. There's a lot to discover at altitude. For example, you can be right in the middle of a natural phenomenon: "Obheiter" is what the region calls it when heavy fog hangs over the valley and the sun shines above. To escape the blanket of fog and catch some warm rays of sunshine in the Alps, you need a cable car – or you're a very good walker.
A little tip for a special mountain railway seating experience: it's best to try the 10-seater gondolas on the Ifen and the new cable cars on the Söllereck and Nebelhorn. They have wider seats, and travel times are significantly shorter. The Ifen cable cars even offer free Wi-Fi.

The ski area & hiking area in the Allgäu
Very well-connected and an experience in both summer and winter:
- Nebelhornbahn: A historic cable car in Oberstdorf transported guests up to the Nebelhorn for more than 90 years, where around 400 peaks await their admiration. In 2021, it was replaced by the modern 10-person gondola lift.
- Fellhornbahn: In winter, this cable car takes winter sports enthusiasts to boundless Skiing Fun in the Allgäu and Kleinwalsertal in comfortable 8-person cabins. In summer, you can travel in the large cabin on the Fellhorn to escape the mountain peaks.
- Söllereckbahn: Off to the family mountain! The cable car near Oberstdorf brings young and old to their skiing or hiking adventure. With its family-friendly offerings, little explorers are in good hands at the Söllereck. It was modernized by 2022 and is particularly impressive thanks to its new main cable car.
- Kanzelwandbahn: In both summer and winter, the 6-seater gondola takes you from Kleinwalsertal directly to the two-country ski and hiking area. Impressive views over the entire Kleinwalsertal are included!
- Heubergbahn: The four-seater chairlift takes you directly from the center of Hirschegg up to approximately 1500 meters. This altitude is perfect for either a leisurely Hike on the Heuberg along the level mountain trails, or as a starting point for a more challenging hike to higher elevations, for example, up to the Walmendingerhorn. Skiers will also get their money's worth here.
- Walmendingerhornbahn: The Walmendingerhorn is also worth a visit in both summer and winter. Here you can move high above the Kleinwalsertal and experience the mountain world with all your senses.
- Ifenbahn: The 10-person cable cars on the Ifen offer greater safety, comfort, and enjoyment on your way to the mountain experience. In winter, the Ifen I & II take you up to the mountain station; in summer, the Ifen I takes you to the middle station – from there, you can continue up on foot.
